There are more efficient ways than expanding Medicaid to keep small, rural hospitals open. That’s the conclusion of a new study issued by the Thomas Jefferson Institute, analyzing the reasons the hospital industry supports Medicaid expansion and noting that larger, profitable hospitals would receive most of the additional funding that would come from Medicaid expansion.
